A mother and father and their three teen-age children move to a new home that was the scene of a “personal tragedy”. The son meets a mysterious neighbor girl and together they experiment with an old radio they find in the attic, that can be used to communicate with the dead. Something is unleashed that brings new horror. (Source: IMDB)

Though I found Haunt definitively watchable, there really isn’t a lot of originality going on there. EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), dead previous residents of a house just being moved into. Teenaged angst, and Hormones galore, arent enough to give this one a higher score.

I really dont enjoy jump scares, and this movie is riddled with them. As I’ve said before, I don’t appreciate them.. they’re cheap and just tell me that the director can’t make the story scary without them. And, this movie had potential. Perhaps given a few more rewrites and a more experienced horror director with a passion for the genre, maybe even something great. But, this one just fell a little flat.

So, it’s a good movie for curling up with a bucket of popcorn on a stormy night. But, nothing special.
