Beneath the fake blood and cheap masks of countless haunted house attractions across the country, there are whispers of truly terrifying alternatives. Looking to find an authentic, blood-curdling good fright for Halloween, five friends set off on a road trip in an RV to track down these underground Haunts. Just when their search seems to reach a dead end, strange and disturbing things start happening and it becomes clear that the Haunt has come to them…

This video starts out like a lot of documentaries on the Travel Channel around Halloween.. a group of friends looking for the scariest haunted house in the U.S. As they travel the southern states, their experiences get more and more creepy – it seems they’ve pissed off a brood of evil clowns, and they may be following them as they search for the grand prize.. The Blue Skeleton, which is supposed to be the most extreme “Haunt” in the US.

I feel that this movie could have been better than it turned out to be. I was rather disappointed in the ending sequence. Spoilers ahead!!

  • First off, if I found a bunch of evil clowns following me from one haunted house to another.. I’d call the police or, at the least, go home.
  • I certainly wouldn’t allow one of them into my RV.. “She just followed me in”. What? Throw her the fuck out!
  • Your friend disappears during a New Orleans Halloween parade? Gee.. ever hear of the Police? What the hell is wrong with you.
  • Your “Extreme Haunt” hosts send you a text message saying that your missing friend will die.. again.. police?
  • You’ve now allowed them to bust into your RV, capture you, and put bags over your head.. Good bye.

This group of friends continuously make mistake after mistake in a looping montage of stupidity which ends with them all being buried alive in shallow graves. Then the cameras cut.. wait.. is that it? Did they survive? If not, how did we get the video footage? God dammit, found footage movies suck.

There where some legitimately scarey haunted house stuff going on, which I’m sure are not faked.. there really are “Extreme” Haunts around the country. I’d like to visit one at some point.. but the idea of a Haunt so extreme that the only way to get to it is to get a password from a clown named “chuckles” in bar, in the middle of nowhere? Nope.

Clearly, the guys who put this together either watched one of the Travel Channel’s “Extreme Haunts” shows, or visited one of them, themselves.. and thought, hey, what if one of these things where run by a bunch of psychopaths?? Movie Time! ugh.

So.. this really isn’t a great movie.. I can’t even call it that.. it’s a found footage nightmare, of a group of young people documenting their own deaths by stupidity.
