Resident Evil – The Final Chapter

Year: 2016
Directed By: Paul W.S. Anderson
Starring: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

I want to make it very clear that I have never played the games that this franchise is based on.

With that being said.. I loved the first movie, it made for a great sci/horror. Everything that came after was weak, and a bunch of nonsense. Including this movie. Filled with lots of action, but glaring plot holes and more flashbacks to the original movie, than you can shake a stick at, I found watching this one to be almost tiresome. As in, I almost fell asleep.

However, the story did make an interesting twist as to the nature of the outbreak. And ended with a meaningless sacrifice. Honestly, you can’t make a huge deal out of a character sacrificing themselves for the greater good, only to see them alive again at the end of the movie. it’s bullshit.

I give this one a resounding “meh”
